YOU ARE HERE: HOMEKNOWMONEY MATTERS  TIPPING
Tipping

Tipping is not expected in Vietnam. However, it is highly appreciated. For a person who earns 100 USD a month, 1 USD tip is already a lot. The income of tour guides and drivers is partly based on tips, so in these cases tips should be given.

There is no need to tip in hotels and restaurants which add a service charge (even though staff may not get any of it). Leaving a small tip in restaurants will be greatly appreciated by the staff regardless of whether a service charge is added or not. It's polite to leave a small donation at the end of a visit to a pagoda.

Traveler cheques
Vietcombank as well as other banks change travellers cheques and give cash advances. There are also ATM’s along main streets. Vietcombank, 17 D Quang Trung Street, is open Monday thru Friday. ...
