Dalat is located1,500 m (4,900 ft) above sea level on the Langbiang Plateau in the southern parts of the Central Highlands (in Vietnamese, Tây Nguyên) and known as the City of Eternal Spring. Temperatures hover between a pleasant average minimum of 15 to an average maximum of 24 degrees Celsius. Dalat which is 205 km away from Nha Trang can be reached from Nha Trang by bus, car or motorbike. In Vietnam, Đà Lạt is a popular tourist destination. The city’s temperate weather stands in contrast to Vietnam’s otherwise tropical climate.

Đà Lạt’s specific sights are pine wood (forming the name: “City of thousands of pine trees”) with twisting roads and tree marigold (Vietnamese: dã quỳ) blossom in the winter.

Đà Lạt is also known as an area for scientific research in the fields of biotechnology and nuclear physics. With its year-round cool weather, Đà Lạt supplies temperate agriculture products for all over Vietnam and for export, for example: cabbage and cauliflower. Its flower industry produces two typical flowers: hydrangea (Vietnamese: cẩm tú cầu) and golden everlasting (Vietnamese: hoa bất tử). The confectionery industry offers a wide range of mứt, a kind of fruit preserve made from strawberry, mulberry, sweet potato, and rose.

More on Dalat including hotels will follow shortly.

Daklak

Dac Lac or Đắk Lắk is a province of Vietnam. Buon Ma Thuot is its provincial capital. Daklak is located in Vietnam's Central Highlands, around the Đắk Lắk plateau, about six hundred metres above sea level and is home to a high number of indigenous people who are not ethnically Vietnamese (Việt).

About 60 km south of Buôn Ma Thuột is Lăk Lake. Overlooking the lake is the old summer residence of Emperor Bảo Đại which has been renovated into a hotel. Surrounding the lake is Jun Village, home of the Jun people. The villagers have a peculiar form of fishing where they attach metal rods to a car battery and run the rods through the water zapping and stunning the fish and then collecting them to keep in a tank at the village until they are needed.

Coffee, fruit, and rubber play an important part in its economy. Recently, there have been efforts to harness the province's considerable potential for hydroelectric generation. The Jun people take advantage of the small tourist trade that passes through, giving elephant rides through the village and across the lake.
